K. Alan Russell is Co-Founder and President of The TECMA Group, whose growth has its roots in Alan's entrepreneurial expertise, business experience, and global vision. Alan, an Oklahoma farm boy, got his career "off the ground" learning to fly and studying aeronautics at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Using his pilot's license, he delivered airplanes to South American customers and hitchhiked home to maximize profits. Through this experience, Alan developed a great affinity for Latin American cultures which prompted him to choose Latin American routes when he became one of Continental Airline's youngest professional pilots based in El Paso. Alan's love for flying and El Paso's open skies led to a fly-in community concept where airplanes could land and taxi directly to one's home. The development of Cielo Dorado Air Park and other commercial projects has provided Alan with fifteen years of real estate development and site selection experience. When Continental Airlines closed its El Paso hub in the mid-1980s, Alan chose to remain in El Paso to pursue his real estate and cross-border business interests. Alan maintains his professional pilot's license, is an active flight instructor, and pilots TECMA's company plane in the U.S. and Mexico. He is a founding member and Past-President of the Amigo Air Sho, the U.S./Mexico border area's largest and most profitable civic event. Alan is also a supporter and member of the Board of Directors of the War Eagles Air Museum in Santa Teresa, NM. The Museum's purpose is to collect, restore and display historic aircraft in order to encourage the awareness and appreciation of military aviation history through educational programs, exhibits and special events.
